Preparation
Assembly and Disassembly
Before assembling the IH horizontal stainless steel single-stage single-suction chemical pump, carefully check whether any parts have defects that may affect assembly, and clean them thoroughly before proceeding.
1. Pre-tighten all connecting bolts, plugs, etc. in their corresponding parts.
2. Pre-place O-rings, paper gaskets, felts, etc. in their corresponding positions.
3. Pre-assemble the sealing ring, packing, packing ring, and packing gland into the pump cover in sequence.
4. Install the rolling bearings onto the shaft, then place the shaft into the bearing frame, install the bearing cover, tighten it, and sleeve the coupling bolts onto the shaft.
5. Install the shaft sleeve onto the shaft, mount the pump cover onto the frame, then install the impeller, stop washer, and impeller nut and tighten them. Afterwards, place the whole assembly into the pump body and tighten all connecting bolts between the pump body and pump cover.
During assembly, pay special attention not to omit or misplace small parts such as keys, oil deflectors, water rings, or the O-ring inside the shaft sleeve.
The disassembly sequence is generally the reverse of assembly.
Installation
Proper installation of the IH horizontal stainless steel single-stage single-suction chemical pump is critical for its operation and service life. Installation and alignment must be performed carefully.
1. Installation and Alignment:
(1) Remove grease and dirt from the base and place the base onto the foundation.
(2) Check the level of the base using a spirit level; shims may be used to adjust the level.
(3) Grout the base and anchor bolt holes with concrete.
(4) After the concrete solidifies, check for looseness in the base or anchor bolts, tighten if needed, and recheck the level.
(5) Clean the mounting surfaces of the base, pump feet, and motor feet, then install the pump and motor onto the base.
(6) Maintain a proper gap between the couplings. Check whether the pump shaft and motor shaft centerlines align; use thin shims to adjust as needed. The vertical/horizontal deviation of coupling outer surfaces must not exceed 0.1 mm, and the end-face gap difference around the whole circumference must not exceed 0.3 mm.
2. Installation Notes:
(1) The pump installation height, pipeline length, diameter, and flow velocity must match hydraulic calculations to reduce unnecessary losses.
(2) For long-distance transmission, larger pipe diameters should be used. Pipelines must have independent supports and must not impose weight on the pump.
(3) If a check valve is installed in the discharge pipeline, it should be placed outside the gate valve.
Start-up, Shutdown, and Operation
1. Start-up:
(1) Before coupling the pump and motor, confirm that the motor rotates in the correct direction and that the pump rotates freely.
(2) Close the discharge gate valve.
(3) Fill the pump casing with water or prime using a vacuum pump.
(4) Switch on the power. After the pump reaches normal speed, gradually open the discharge gate valve and adjust to the required operating conditions. When the discharge valve is fully closed, the pump must not run continuously for more than 3 minutes.
2. Shutdown:
(1) Gradually close the discharge gate valve and cut off the power.
(2) If ambient temperature is below 0°C, drain the water from the pump to prevent freezing damage.
(3) For long-term shutdown, disassemble, clean, oil, and properly store the pump.
3. Operation:
(1) During start-up and operation, closely observe instrument readings, bearing temperature, packing leakage, vibration, and noise. Handle abnormalities immediately.
(2) Bearing temperature must not exceed 80°C, and must not exceed ambient temperature by more than 40°C.
(3) Packing leakage should be small and uniform under normal conditions.
(4) Maintain the bearing oil level within the normal range. Add lubricating oil promptly if the level is too low.
(5) If the clearance between the sealing ring and the impeller becomes excessively worn, replace the sealing ring.
